Make stringent laws to deal with menace of drug addiction: Team Jammu

JAMMU: As part of its ongoing campaign to mobilise support of Legislators to make stringent laws to deal with the menace of drug addiction, a delegation of Team Jammu led by its Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal on Monday met opposition National Conference and Congress parties and sought support to bring a unanimous resolution in coming Legislative Assembly session to make existing laws more stringent to curb menace of drug addiction among youth.
During the meeting of the delegation with Provincial President of National Conference, and MLA, Nagrota, Devender Singh Rana, Chairman Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal sought support of Devender Singh Rana and also urged to initiate a healthy debate while rising above the party lines so that a resolution in the Assembly is passed in one voice with the support of both opposition and treasury benches. While submitting a memorandum to Rana, delegation of Team Jammu reiterated their demand that Legislative Assembly should conduct special debate on this menace so that a policy should be formulated to deal with this menace which is slowly claiming lives of innocent youths of the State.
The visiting delegation said there is need that special discussion should be held on drugs in the forthcoming budget session of the Assembly to plug loopholes to make
existing laws more stringent and effective.
Besides, Police Department is made accountable and also Drug mafia could be dealt with iron hands. Rana, while interacting with delegation, assured full support from National Conference to deal with this menace. He admitted that drug addiction is a serious problem so there is need to make some stringent laws to deal with this problem.
