Majahan Sabha celebrates birthday of Mehr Chand Mahajan

JAMMU: 131st birthday of Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan was celebrated with solemnity and fervor at Mehr Chand Mahajan Park, Gandhi Nagar by Mahajan Sabha, Gandhi Nagar on Friday.
Mayor of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, who was the chief guest during the function held with Govt prescribed COVID precautions, called for emulating values and principles of justice, nationalism, simplicity and social reforms which Justice Mahajan pursued throughout his life. Entire nation and J&K in particular cannot forget services of Justice Mahajan first as member of the Redcliff Boundary Commission and then as Prime Minister of J&K Princely State that culminated into State’s accession with India, he said, adding that in his memory High Court Chowk has been named after him and a statue would soon be installed there.
The Chief Patron of Mahajan Sabha, Jugal Mahajan paid rich tributes to Justice Mahajan and described him as a great patriot with whose wisdom J&K became a part of India.
Ravi Rohmetra, a noted columnist, spoke about life history of Justice Mahajan and recalled his contributions in different capacities like member of Redcliff Boundary Commission, Prime Minster of J&K and Chief Justice of India.
Earlier, the Mayor and other dignitaries garlanded statue of Justice Mahajan and participated in the Havan. Others present in the function included Jagdish Vaid, President Mahajan Sabha Gandhi Nagar, Yash Paul Gupta President Retailer Association, Prem Gupta former IGP, K B Jandial, P C Gupta, Bansi Lal Gupta, Dr R K Gupta, N K Gupta, Ramesh Rohmetra, Raman Mahajan, Raj Pal Gupta and Mahipal Gupta.
