SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Dilbag Singh on Saturday called for extra vigilance and precautions to be maintained for the Independence Day 2023 celebrations at main venues besides at all other places across Jammu and Kashmir.
The DGP chaired a high level meeting to review the preparation and overall security arrangements regarding the celebration of Independence Day functions across the J&K Union Territory at Police Headquarters here.
Senior police and central armed police force officers attended the meeting.
The DGP directed officers to ensure all the necessary arrangements are in place well in time.
Emerging challenges and their counter measures were threadbare discussed during the meeting.
The DGP stressed for updating and refreshing of different databases regarding the activities of anti national elements including OGWs.
The DGP emphasised on the officers for ensuring implementation of joint mechanisms chalked out at different levels. The DGP stressed for making smooth traffic arrangements during the Independence Day celebrations, particularly routes leading to venues of functions in Srinagar and Jammu.
Parking slots should be identified so that people participating in these functions should not face any inconvenience, he added.
Earlier, the DGP expressed grief over the martyrdom of three Army jawans in an encounter at Kulgam and two minutes of silence was observed.
While referring to the martyrdom of three Army Jawans, the DGP said, “We continue to make sacrifice wherever required for the sovereignty and integrity of the Country and for the safety of people.”
He complimented the officers and personnel on ground saying that they are doing the job best to their capabilities.
