LEH: Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) Residential School Devachan Choglamsar celebrated Annual Day here on Tuesday. On the occasion, Minister for Cooperative and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay was the Chief Guest while Executive Councillor for Education, LAHDC, Dorjay Mutup, CLP leader MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora and SSP Leh, Sargun Shukla were the Guests of Honour.
On the occasion newly developed Fundamentals Pre-nursery and Nursery Wing was inaugurated by the guests in presence of MIMC founder Director venerable Bikhu Sanghasena. LBA Vice President PT Kunzang, Councilors venerable Lobzang Nyantak and Tsering Morup, former CEC Rigzin Spalbar and prominent personalities were present to grace the occasion. Appreciating the endeavours of venerable Sanghasena for carryout various humanitarian activities benefiting thousands of deserving children in Ladakh, Minister for Cooperative and Ladakh Affair Chering Dorjay said that running a residential school is a big challenge to any organisation but MIMC successfully runs the residential school to impart modern, spiritual and moral education to many deserving students hailing from far-flung areas of Ladakh which is truly compassion in action. He also appreciated the tradition of MIMC alumni coming back to the orgnaisation to propagate humanitarian activities.
Terming Sanghasena and Sonam Wangchuk SECMOL as Gems of Ladakh for their selfless services, CLP leader MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora in his speech expressed his helplessness not able to recommend Sanghasena name for Padma Shree Awards during his tenure as Minister in the State Cabinet.
Expressing his concern over parent being reluctant to send their kids to government school, EC Education Dorjay Motup appealed to MIMC to share their expertise to uplift the government school standards. Venerable Sanghasena appealed to all stakeholders to support and contribute to remove illiteracy in Ladakh to make Ladakh a role model society.
SSP Sargun Shukla, School Principal Tsewang Dolma, Fundamental Education volunteer Stanley Johnson from USA, Golden Mines Training Coordinator Rinchen, Master Swadeep Kamble from Vidya Mandhir School Nagpur and Head Girl Thinley Dolkar also spoke on the occasion. Culture programme including devotional songs, rhymes by tiny-tots and senior student dances left the audience spellbound.
Later, Chief Guest distributed prizes and certificates to meritorious students.
