Maha Kumbh: Adityanath reviews preparations ahead of PM Modi’s Prayagraj visit on Friday

MAHAKUMBH NAGAR: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Prayagraj visit on December 13, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday reviewed the preparations for Maha Kumbh Mela here.

In line with the CM’s vision, special arrangements are also being made to enhance the safety and comfort of female devotees during the grand event, an official statement issued here said.

Organised every 12 years, the Maha Kumbh will be held from January 13 to February 26 in UP’s in Prayagraj. Over 40 crore people are expected to attend the mela, making it a record-breaking event.

PM Modi will visit Prayagraj on Friday to review the preparations for the 2025 Maha Kumbh and inaugurate various projects here.

During his visit, Adityanath issued directions to officials to keep an eye on all the aspects of the Maha Kumbh and ensure that there is no laxity in any sector, it said.

He also conducted a detailed ground inspection of Mahakumbh Nagar and key locations such as the Sangam Nose, where the Prime Minister will perform rituals.

He provided clear directives to officials to ensure seamless execution of the event.

Adityanath also visited various important sites, including the temporary 100-bed hospital built in Sector One Parade, Akshay Vat, Saraswati Koop, and the Lete Hanuman temple.

At the temple, he performed worship amidst vedic chanting, emphasising the spiritual significance of the event.

He also made a round to the Emergency Ward, ICU, OPD, waiting area, main ward, female ward, children’s ward and operation theatre.

The doctors briefed him about the advanced facilities available at the hospital, including the use of AI-powered cameras in the ICU and the high-tech AI messaging flow system. Adityanath was also given a detailed overview of the state-of-the-art laboratory established in the hospital.

Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, he stressed the need for proper staffing, availability of medicines, and enhanced ventilation.

The temporary hospital, set up for Mahakumbh 2025, includes a 10-bed ICU operated with support from the Cantt Board and Medanta doctors.

He also went to Kila Ghat to review the newly constructed jetty and directed officials to ensure adequate facilities for devotees, including bathing arrangements while maintaining robust security measures.

Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand briefed the CM on the arrangements for the PM’s cruise tour.

Adityanath conducted a thorough inspection, provided essential guidelines, and emphasized maintaining the Ganga’s cleanliness.

He also performed aarti, and prayed for the well-being and prosperity of all citizens, accompanied by temple Mahant Balbir Giri Maharaj.

The CM also inspected arrangements at the Akharas in Sector 20.

He first visited Shri Panchayati Akhara Bada Udasin, where he interacted with saints who welcomed him warmly.

He also reviewed the setups at Shri Panchayati Akhara Niranjani and Anand Akhara, where Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Shankaranand Saraswati invited him inside. The CM assured a future visit and inspected the external arrangements at other Akharas, ensuring they meet expectations.

Mahakumbh Nagar Sub Divisional Magistrate Abhinav Pathak said 12 special units are being set up to cater to women pilgrims at the Sangam.

Each unit will be 25 meters long and 6 meters wide, equipped with changing rooms to ensure convenience after rituals and bathing, he said.

Old and dilapidated boats are being removed from the Sangam area, replaced with newly constructed floating jetties. These jetties are being adorned with vibrant flowers to add an aesthetic charm, he said.

To save devotees from facing any difficulties, Brahmins, priests, and pandas will be present at the venue to guide and assist in performing rituals. (PTI)
