Magnitude 5.5 quake shakes Kashmir

Srinagar: An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale today shook the Kashmir Valley, causing panic among the residents.
“The magnitude 5.5 tremor was recorded at 2:38 PM and lasted over 15 seconds. Its epicenter was in Hindukush region of Afghanistan,” an official of the MeT Department said.
Kashmir is located in the highly active seismic zone V.
The tremors caused panic among the residents, who rushed out of the buildings to safety.
Police said there were no reports of damage from anywhere.
