Lt Gen Devraj takes over as Army Commander

JAMMU: Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu on Thursday took over as chief of Army’s northern command overlooking the operational command of Jammu and Kashmir.
Lt Gen Devraj took charge of the Udhampur-based Northern command today, Defence Spokesman of Northern Command said.
Devraj succeeded Lt Gen D S Hooda, who retired after an illustrious career of 40 years. Lt Gen Devraj was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry in 1980 and has extensive staff and command exposures.
He commanded a Mountain Brigade in the Kashmir Valley, a Division in North East and the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan prior to commanding the Tezpur based Corps.
The General also briefly commanded the Sikh Light Infantry Regimental Centre and Assam Rifles Training Centre and School.
Apart from important operational staff appointments at the Division and Corps Headquarters in the North East and Jammu and Kashmir, his staff appointments include tenures at the Military Secretary branch, Staff Duties branch and as Military Assistant to the Chief of the Army Staff at the Army HQ. On assuming the charge, Devraj conveyed his greetings to all ranks and expressed his commitment to take forward the excellent work by his predecessors and all ranks of Northern Command in these challenging conditions.
