LS Polls: Madhav to discuss BJP strategy in Jammu today

JAMMU: BJP National General Secretary and senior leader Ram Madhav will hold deliberations with the party leadership here tomorrow.
Madhav, who is also in-charge J&K Affairs, will meet the BJP leaders from the State and discuss strategy for upcoming LS bypolls on two seats in the Kashmir Valley besides political scenario of the State in detail, sources here said.
“Madhav will arrive here tomorrow morning and will chair meetings of BJP ministers, MLAs and cadre,” party sources said.
They said that senior leader Avinash Rai Khanna, who was in Kashmir on two-day visit, has also arrived Jammu and will brief Madhav about BJP’s political base in the Valley following which decision on fielding candidates can be taken.
Khanna had said in Srinagar that BJP will decide on fielding candidates for the by-polls to Srinagar and Anantnag Lok Sabha seats keeping in mind its aim to bolster the NDA government at the Centre’s kitty. He said that view of the party workers on the by-polls has been taken and will be discussed within team.
He had said that it would then be conveyed to the central leadership on whether the Jammu and Kashmir unit wants to contest the polls or not.
“Madhav will hold threadbare discussions with the party cadre for finalising decision of contesting polls or not,” sources added.
Meanwhile, party sources said that BJP may not field its candidates against its alliance partner PDP on both the seats and prefer to support them.
