Loss of lives in flash floods; CM, others express grief

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh have expressed deep grief over the demise of two children who were washed away in flashfloods near Janipur, Jammu today.
Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister prayed for the eternal peace to the departed souls.
The Chief Minister has sought the details of the losses caused by the flashfloods in various parts of the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister, while sympathising with the families of the children, said that the government would explore the ways and means of providing necessary assistance and help to them. He also directed the officers to prepare a detailed report about the damages to the infrastructure due to incessant rains which lashed Jammu and its adjoining areas.
Dr. Singh directed the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation to take necessary steps to ensure that the water is drained off from areas which have got submerged due to the rains and also ensure that the drainage and sewerage system of the city is also regulated.
The Dy. Chief Minister also asked the officers of the different departments to synergize their efforts so that the damaged infrastructure and other essential services can be restored within shortest possible time.
Meanwhile, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana also expressed shock and grief over the death of two girls.
Rana conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed the Almighty to grant them strength to bear this irreparable loss.
