Lord Buddha’s teachings solely to liberate human beings from sufferings: Bhalla

JAMMU: Lord Buddha preached for love and social harmony and his teachings are more relevant today. We all should follow the Noble Truths and Eight-Fold Path as shown by him. The teachings of Lord Buddha are solely to liberate human beings from the miseries and sufferings and help one to live a peaceful life.
This was stated by former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla while speaking at the function held here in connection with Buddha Purnima.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said Buddha Purnima speaks of Buddha’s enlightenment and his immeasurable life span wherein he devoted himself to lessen the sufferings of the people.
Among those present on the occasion include Block President S.S Dutt, Ex Corporator Chmail Singh, Daya Ram, Laju Ram, Inderpal, Kasturi Lal, R.L Kalsotra, Kaith, Shashi Syal, Tarsem Lal, Ramesh Kaith and Bedi Ram Kaith.
Later, he also joined celebration of International Workers Day also popularly known as Labour Day and which is celebrated to mark the hardships of laborers and working class.
Meanwhile, Mahatma Budh Sewa Samiti celebrated Mahatma Gautam Buddh Jayanti with religious fervor at Ambedkar Nagar, Channi Himmat, Jammu.
The Samiti appealed to the people for fighting against the social evils which are prevalent in society like female foeticide, casteism and others.
Chamel Singh, President, Inderpaul General Secretary, KL Kaith Secretary, LR Dogra, Tarsem Lal, Behari Lal, Daya Ram and Gur Simran Kaith were also present.
