Lohri celebrated with great enthusiasm

JAMMU: Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Jammu Poonch Constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma visited village Dansal, Jindrah and Kishenpur and celebrated Lohri Festival by distributing sweets amongst the inhabitants of the areas.
Sharma, while addressing the gathering at village Dansal, said that the youth and people are forgetting our rich Dogra culture and heritage and moving towards the western culture. He added that Lohri Festival is the mark of our unity and national integrity.”
Senior BJP leader Nand Kishore, Member State Working committee BJP Vijay Sharma Vijju, District Rural Vice President Uttam Singh, Mandal President BJP Dansal, Satish Sharma, Sarpanchs and Panchs were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, BJP MLC Vibodh Gupta celebrated Lohri with the underprivileged children of Kalika Colony here today. He also distributed sweets and gifts to the children.
Vibodh said that during our festivals we must also think about the children of poor sections of our society. He further added that year 2017 is being celebrated across the country as Garib Kalyan Varsh and accordingly government is taking many initiatives for the welfare of poor and marginalized communities.
All the developmental initiatives and celebrations are meaningless until and unless we reach to the last man in the queue and make him part of such initiatives and celebrations, he said, adding that the prominent citizens of the State should preserve the culture of our society and teach the students and children about the ethos of our festivals.
BJP State Secretary Vikram Randhawa termed this festival a secular festival cutting across religious divide and epitomizes secular and mixed culture.
Among others who were present include Ankush Mahajan Mandal President Gandhi Nagar, Kulbir Charak, Subash Chander, Dalbir Singh, Kamal Gandotra and Krishan Lal.
Similarly, hundreds of Panthers Party activists today celebrated Lohri Festival at all District Headquarters.
The Panthers Party activists celebrated Lohri Festival by sharing sweets, dry fruits and pleasant discussion on the future line of action and operation for ensuring fundamental rights to all residents of J and K who have been holding Indian Passports since 1950.
Bansi Lal Sharma, Advisor JKNPP, Anita Thakur, General Secretary, Jagdev Singh, Coordination Secretary, Pushvinder Singh Manhas, Vice President-Young Panthers, Shanker Singh Chib, Rakesh Gupta, State Secretary, Neeraj Gupta, Zonal President-Jammu, Paramjit Singh Marshal, President- Panthers Trade Union, Ravinder Jamwal, District NPP Secretary, Naresh Chib, District President-Jammu, Rajesh, District General Secretary, Manohar Singh and Naveen Bali, Office Secretary, Panthers Trade Union were also present.
On the auspicious occasion of Lohri, Vichar Kranti Manch International (VKMI) Advisor Rattan Lal Mahajan distributed blankets among the labourers of Ware House and Nehru Market.
S.K Jain, President VKMI, in his address, explained about the significance of Lohri festival.
While conducting the programme introduced the dignitaries from the different social organisation heads i.e. Rakesh Kumar State President Dharam Jagran Manch, Advocate Leela Karan Sharrna President Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Rameshwar Dass Mahant Puranl Mandi and Kameshwar Temple Akhnoor, Arun Gupta General Secretary Chamber of Commerce, Rajesh Gupta President Traders Federation, Ware House/Nehru Market, Parveen Gupta President Panch Mandir Channi Himmat and former Corporator Jammu Muncipal Coporation, Rajesh Gupta President Fruit Market Narwal, K.S Samyal President Confederation of Voluntary Social and Charitable Organization Balkrishan Gupta President Senior Citizens Rejuvenation Centre, Dr. Vikram Gupta renowned Diabetologist were felicitated for their contribution towards society.
VKMI members Chander Mohan Sharma, Janak Raj Gupta, Ram Gopal Sharma and from Dharam Jagran Manch, Rajesh Gupta State General Secretary, Tarsem Singh Chib and Sukhdev Saini were also present.
Sanjeev Kerni from Kashmir Times was also felicitated and Dr. A.K Kalsotra, Senior Scientist and General Secretary Senior Citizen Rejuvenation Centre presented vote of thanks.
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS), J&K celebrated Lohri Festival with bonfire in the premises of Dogra Sadar Sabha with religious fervour and zeal where, besides, official bearers and members of Dogra Sadar Sabha a large number of other prominent persons of the civil society participated.
Gulchain Singh Charak, President DSS, while speaking on the occasion, congratulated the people of Jammu in maintaining communal harmony. He prayed for the universal brotherhood, peace and social harmony of the region and the State.

The inmates of Jammu Red Cross Society (JRC) Home for Handicapped, Udheywala and Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) celebrated Lohri with the families of governing body members of home.
The function was inaugurated by PDP MLC Surinder Kumar Choudhary. Avni Lawasa, SDM Marh Jammu, Satish Sharma, Joint Secretary, Sudesh Verma Treasurer, Sat Paul Sharma, President Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Anil Sharma, Secretary Bhartiya Yog Sansthan and Sukhpal, Vijay Sharma, Madan Padha, Surinder Khajuria, V.K Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India and M.L Dogra, former Regional Director, Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India were the Guests of Honour. MLC assured the executive body of JRC home for their full support.
Over 80 inmates including 20 deaf and dumb unturned about their physical capabilities gave scintillating cultural performance.
The children of JRC Home presented colourful dances and song with handicapped children and BLSKS artists.
Renowned artists K.K Joshi, Raju Bajgal, Hem Raj, M.C Kotwal, Zulekha Farid, Rajni Gupta, Kamli Devi, Geetanjali Khajuria, Ruchika Khajuria, Razia Akhter, Anjana, Salman Bhatti, Sahil Kumar, Afroz Razz and Deepak Kumar presented their performance.
MLC announced to donate the ambulance to JRC Home and also help to maintain the structure of JRC Home.
P.C Kapoor, President JRC Home unveiled the various projects under taken for overall development of inmates for making them self reliant and to live the dignified life.
Joginder Chhatarpal, Secretary of the Home and K.K Joshi, Vice Chairman BLSKS conducted the proceedings of the function. M.L Dogra, Chairman BLSKS highlighted the importance of the Lohri Festival and history of Haran and Chhajja.
New Young Blood Organization (NYBO) celebrated Lohri with the inmates of Vridh Ashram here today.
The celebration was held under the Chairman NYBO Ashok Verma wherein all the participants of the organization prayed for peace and prosperity to all the citizens of India.
CMO Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Vice President Naveen Gupta, Secretary Kuldeep Singh, Rajesh Raina, Sham Suri and Ashok Verma greeted Lohri and Makarsakranti to all the citizens of town. They also donated fruits and sweet among the inmates of Old Age Home.
Healthy India Stronger India celebrated Lohri with students of free training centre at a function organised here today.
Hira Lal Abrol, Chairman of NGO was with the Chief Guest. Ram Kumar Gandotra, AEE (Retired), Vinod Manhas, Darbar Singh Slathia, Happy Kumar, Meena Gupta and Roomika Gupta were also graced the occasion.
