Locals demand President Award for yeomen services of handicapped social worker

NOWSHERA: In a special public outreach programme of the Central Govt. to the UT of J&K, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik during her tour at Nowshera, a demand was raised by locals to give President/Padma Shri award to Vinod Sharma, a Handicapped social worker of Nowshera. Vinod Sharma, Social activist, also known as Voice of Poor and Disabled in the area, has been selflessly serving the society for the last 20 to 25 yrs. He is also holding the post of district president of All J&K Disabled Welfare Association (AJKDWA) under which he raised many issues of handicaps besides the concerns of widows, old aged persons.
Besides social welfare activities, he is performing as news reporter where he rendered yeomen services to provide coverage even during cross border firings and other news activities. BDC Bodh Raj and Priti Gupta, Councillor, MC Nowshera during interaction with Union Minister informed that Vinod Sharma got distinguished appreciation letters and rewards from Army and other organizations for doing tremendous job. He always helped local administration and Army for organising various awareness camps like Swach Bharat Abhiyaan, Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Voter awareness, He also remained active during Covid-19 pandemic by distributing necessary items to needy persons.
An appeal was made to the Visiting Minister of State that Vinod Sharma should be awarded Presidents Award.
