REASI : Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Reasi imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 upon three business establishments for selling the underweighted goods to the customers. During inspection of various business establishments the executive team of LMD Reasi booked one petrol pump owner, a cement dealer at Shiv Khori and a shopkeeper at Bharakh with composition of Rs 10,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
The Assistant Controller LMD Kuldeep Raj noticed violations of various provisions of J K Weight and Measures Enforcement Act and Rules, while during checking the cement depot at Ransoo, Inspector Sumit Bhardwaj seized 150 cement bags with brand name as ‘Star Ultra’ as underweighted. In the third case the team found one shopkeeper at Bharakh selling under-weighted mustard oil package with brand name as ‘Bharat Mata’.
The team warned the unscrupulous traders to desist from using unfair trade practices to cheat the gullible consumers and at the same time appealed to the consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the commodities.
