KATHUA: A team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Kathua headed by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay Kumar Verma and comprising of the Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua and Dayalachack Vicky Sharma and Devi Lakhanpuria conducted intensive checking of various business establishment especially gas agencies, Karayana, bakery shops, provisional stores etc at Kootah Morh, Dayalachack, Hiranagar, Barnoti, Logate Morh, Palli Morh, Bagial Morh , Kalibari, Kathua and adjoining areas.
During the inspection 31 units were inspected and five traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J and K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act iggyand Package Commodities Rules and five Challans of the booked traders were compounded by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua and a penalty of Rs 11,100 was imposed on the erring traders.
The department directed all the traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transactions and display MRP, PKD, net contents and complete address and customer care number on the commodities to be sold in package form.
