KATHUA: To provide services at the doorsteps of the traders, the Department of Legal Metrology Kathua organised re-verification cum awareness camp at Billawar.
Nearly, 400 weighing and measuring instruments of the traders were inspected and re-verified by the Inspector Legal Metrology Dayalachack for their confirmation to the standard of weights and measures as laid down in rules. A revenue amounting Rs. 19,804 was realised on account of re-verification and stamping of weighing and measuring instruments. The traders were also advised to use only those weighing and measuring instruments while selling goods to the consumers which are being duly re-verified and authenticated by the department.
Besides, the department also directed all the traders to ensure the mandatory declarations as MRP, PKD, net contents and complete address and Customer Care Number on the commodities to be sold in package form.
Meanwhile, the team conducted inspection of various establishments at Kathua, Billawar and adjoining areas.
More than 50 traders were inspected and 11 business establishments were booked and compounded by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua for Rs 5,400 for violations of various provisions of J and K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 2011.
