Two medical teams constituted to monitor treatment of patients

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited GMC Jammu on Saturday to inquire about the health of civilians, who were injured in Rajouri terror attack.
Dr. Shashi Sudan, Principal, GMC Jammu and other senior doctors briefed the Lt Governor on the health condition of Sanvi Sharma, Prince Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Pawan Kumar and medical procedures being followed.
The Lt Governor also met the family members and assured all possible assistance. He directed the Hospital Administration for ensuring the best possible medical care and assistance for their speedy recovery.

Weapons handed-over to VDGs in Rajouri
Jammu: Authorities on Saturday distributed weapons among Village Defence Guards (VDGs), comprising local volunteers, in a village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal visited Bal Jarallan to inspect the allotment of guns and cartridges to the VDGs to bolster the security of the area. The weapons and ammunition are being provided to the VDGs by police authorities, the official said.
Bal Jarallan had witnessed a terror attack on February 19, 1999, resulting in the killing of seven people attending a marriage ceremony and injuries to an equal number. The village is four km away from Dhangri village, the scene of recent attack by terrorists which left six civilians dead and many others injured.
Interacting with the VDGs, Kundal assured that appropriate measures would be taken to maintain peace and tranquility in the district.
The VDGs appealed for their special training to ensure that are comfortable while handling the weapons.
The Deputy Commissioner also enquired about their familiarity with the weapons and said village-wise training programmes would be organized for the VDGs after the weapons are distributed.
He also urged them to work for the safety and security of the people in the area.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has started reissuing weapons to the VDGs, earlier known as Village Defence Committees, following the Dangri incident.

Meanwhile, two “Special Medical Teams” of doctors have been constituted to provide best treatment to injured of Dangri terror attack
“In addition to the ongoing coordinated management of the patients by different Specialities, a special team of the five Specialist doctors is constituted for the 24×7 treatment monitoring of the patients of ‘Rajouri terrorist attack’ admitted in GMC Jammu,” reads an order issued by Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu.
The Special team will be headed by Dr. Anju Jamwal, HoD Anaesthesia as its Chairperson (9419142883) while Dr. Ratnakar Sharma, HoD Surgery (9419833973), Dr. Abdul Ghani, Professor and l/c HoD, Orthopaedics (9797597406), Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Associate Professor, Medicine (9469002243) and Dr. Syed Maqbool, Lecturer, Cardiology (9906723332) will be its Members.
On the directions of LG Manoj Sinha, Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu also constituted a “Special Medical Team” of the Doctors to visit GMC, Rajouri to assess the patients of recent terrorist incident admitted in GMC Rajouri As per order, the committee will be headed by Dr. Ratnakar Sharma, Professor & Head, Surgery as its Chairman while Dr. Rajesh Mahajan, Professor, Anaesthesi, Dr. Farid Hussian, Lecturer, Orthopaedics and Senior Spine Surgeon and Dr. Rahil Naqvi, Lecturer, Surgery will be its Members.
“The team shall assess the patients of the recent terrorist incident admitted in GMC, Rajouri and take necessary decisions about their management including shifting them to GMC, Jammu,” it added.
