Less space for Jammu, Ladakh leaders in Kashmir-centric delegation

JAMMU: On Saturday when Working President of the National Conference Omar Abdullah was standing tall before the TV news camera crews outside Rashtrapati Bhawan he proudly claimed the delegation he was heading to meet President of India consisted of leaders from all three regions of the state.
Omar was only partially right. The 21-member delegation consisted of leaders from all three regions of the State but the composition was tilted towards Kashmir only.
Out of 10 National Conference leaders, only 1 MLA from Jammu was included in the all party delegation while 9 others represented Kashmir valley.
Out of 21 opposition party, leaders as many as 15 represented Kashmir valley, five leaders were from Jammu and only one leader from Ladkah was accommodated in the all party delegation.
Eight leaders from the Congress were part of the delegation and three others represented CPI (M) ,Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN).
Out of eight leaders from the Congress 4 represented Jammu, three from Kashmir and one from Ladakh. The three others also represented the Kashmir valley.
