LC panel for retrieving Govt assets outside JK

JAMMU: The Departmental Related Standing Committee (DRSC-III) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council has called for taking appropriate measures for proper upkeep and retrieval of government assets located in different States of the country.
The DRSC met under the chairmanship of Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri on Tuesday reviewed the status of assets and facilities available at Government Guest Houses in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Amritsar etc. The Committee held detailed deliberations on various issues related to the functioning of the Guest Houses and sought details of measures initiated for retrieving the properties from the illegal possession of private parties there.
Legislators, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Ramesh Arora, Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Sham Lal Bhagat and Sofi Yousuf were also present in the meeting and shared their concerns and viewpoints.
The Committee impressed upon the Hospitality and Protocol Department to take all necessary steps for improvement and renovation of infrastructure, proper upkeep of facilities in the Government Guest Houses for the visiting dignitaries, guests and patients from the Jammu and Kashmir.
While reviewing the status of pending Court Cases in these States, the Committee urged the Law Secretary to hire the services of senior and reputed lawyers to defend these cases and retrieve the assets worth crores of rupees. It also directed for reviewing the lease case of the land at Mumbai with some private concern and apprising the committee about its status.
