LC Biennial Elections: All 8 nominations found valid during scrutiny

JAMMU: The nomination papers of 8 candidates who have filed their nominations for Biennial elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council were found valid after scrutiny.
The Returning Officer Mohammad Ramzan scrutinized the nomination papers in presence of the candidates.
Pertinent to mention that eight candidates yesterday filed their nominations for election to six seats of the Legislative Council which will be falling fall vacant due to retirement of six members of the Upper House on 19th April, 2017. The candidates who filed their nominations yesterday include PDP candidates Abdul Qayoom Dar (Jammu Province) and Yasir Reshi (Kashmir Province), BJP candidates Vikram Randhawa (Jammu Province) Pradeep Sharma, (District Poonch), Girdhari Lal Raina and Ashok Kumar Bhat (Kashmir Province), and NC candidate Aga Syed Mehmood (Kashmir Province) and INC candidate Thakur Balbir Singh (Jammu Province).
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 3rd April, 2017 and the election, if necessary, will be held on 17th April, 2017.
