JAMMU: Legal Star XI, Clan Kings XI and Avengers XI won their opening cricket matches in the Lawyers Annual Sports Meet, inaugurated Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu West Sat Sharma, here on Friday.
Senior advocates U.K Jalali, A.V Gupta, Sunil Sethi, B.S Slathia, Advocates Raghu Mehta, Y.E Tak, C.M Sharma, Rupinder Singh, Suresh C. Sharma, Romesh Arora, Ajay Singh Manhas, Ravi Dogra and Bawa Ditta were present amongst others in the opening ceremony.
In the first match of the day, Legal Star XI outplayed Striking XI by 36 runs.
Batting first, Legal Star XI scored 123 runs in 12 overs for the loss of five wickets. Pranav Kohli was the top scorer with 45 runs, whereas Mohd Sami and Surinder added 27 and 24 runs respectivelt to the total. For Striking XI, Raj Thakur and Rajesh Bhushan shared two wickets each. In reply, Striking XI was bundled out for 87 runs. Nikhil Gupta played an inning of 33 runs. For Legal Star XI, A.P Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who took three wickets while Parvesh Salaria took two and Sanjay and Amit shared one wicket each. Clan Kings XI thrashed Great Warriors in second match of the day. Great Warriors, batting first, scored 114 runs in 12 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Dinesh Sharma (29), Rahul Sharma (27) and Sahil (20) runs were the main scorers. For Clan Kings XI, Manik with his brilliant bowling picked four important wickets followed by Gagan Kohli, who took three. In reply, Clan Kings XI with the help of Anil Verma’s 40 runs chased the target comfortably. Sachin Sharma and Gagan Kohli contributed 26 and 15 runs respectively. For Great Warriors, Sahil and Deepak share apiece each. In the third and final match of the day, Avengers XI defeated Strikers XI by eight runs in a close contest. Avengers XI, batting first after winning the toss, scored 110 runs in 12 overs.
Mansoor and Majid were the main scorers with 19 and 17 runs respectively. Avinay took two wickets and Nitin picked one for Strikers XI. Chasing the target, Strikers XI managed to score 102 runs. Amulya played a knock of 40 runs whereas Prathavi added 12 runs. Azam grabbed two wickets and Rafakat and Mazer Ali shared one each.
