Sources in the office of Principal Resident Commissioner in New Delhi, in reaction to a news story published in STATE TIMES on December 22, said that it was the former Law Minister (and now Revenue Minister) Syed Basharat Bukhari who was present in the Union Capital in connection with his father’s treatment around December 5-7 when the Sarfaesi matter was under hearing with Supreme Court. They said that present Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan was not in New Delhi around that time. They, however, confirmed the presence of Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal Ganai in New Delhi from December 5 to 7. Meanwhile, a letter from Law Secretary Abdul Majid Bhat insisted that Mr Khan was in Jammu in connection with a Rural Development function around that time. It said that on December 7 he attended a function in Bishna. It, however, ignored reference to AG’s presence in New Delhi and did not react to the report that only a junior advocate appeared before the bench in Supreme Court.
