JAMMU: The young side of Law School won the annual inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu which was organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, on the campus ground, here on Monday.
In the final, Law School defeated Department of Sports and Physical Education by a wafer thin margin of two runs in a nail-biting finish.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Law School made 125 runs for eight wickets in 15 overs game. Gourav Khajuria remained top scorer with 31-ball 50 runs hitting six boundaries and two sixes while Sohirt contributed 24-ball 35 runs. Mohd Isran added 10 runs to the total. Extras added 25 runs.
For Physical Education, Mehmood emerged as most successful bowler with two for nine in three overs while Naseeb, Charanjeet Singh, Nadeem and Manoj shared apiece each.
In reply, Physical Education could make 123 runs in given 15 overs for seven wickets. Rahul Sharma played fine innings of 56 runs coming off 38 deliveries hitting nine boundaries. Vinay Manhas added 16-ball 24 runs. Yashvardan took most of the three wickets for 24 runs in three overs while Irfan bagged two.
The final was officiated by the technical panel comprising Vijay Dogra, S Singh as umpires while Manu Khajuria was scorer.
