UDHAMPUR: Latti XI shall take on Kirchi XI in a volleyball tournament which got underway at village Jakhed in Tehsil Dudu of district Udhampur under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Udhampur. In total, six teams turned up in this day-long event on knock-out basis representing areas Jakhed, Latti, Khaned and Kirchi in Latti and Dudu Tehsils on knock-out basis. Earlier, the event was declared open by VDC Chairman, Thakur Darshan Kumar. The event was graced by Akhilesh Khajuria, Chowki Officer Dudu; Ravi Kant, chairman Ramnagar Tourism Development Society and Amit Chander Singh, general secretary of District Udhampur Volleyball Association as also senior citizen and retired teacher, Khursheed Ahmed Kanth. “An effort has been organised to bring local youth from different places in twin tehsils of Latti and Dudu so as to spot the talent and engage them in sports, especially in Volleyball. It was also to keep youth away from drug menace. We have received encouraging response,” said member of the organising team, Jagbir Singh Thakur.
