Lashkar’s sleeper cell busted; 2 arrested

SRINAGAR: Police on Friday arrested two militants-one of them working as a driver in a private school in Srinagar, and recovered three AK-47 rifles, 14 pistols and two wireless sets from their possession.
On a specific information, police succeeded in busting the LeT sleeper cell in Nowgam- Chanpora area, which was planning to carry out subversive activities in the Srinagar city.
Polcie said, this sleeper cell was specifically tasked to carry out subversive activities in and around Srinagar city in the coming days.
The activities of the main activists of the sleeper cell were meticulously monitored which led to the arrest of two militants , identified as Mohammad Irfan Haroon, resident of Tawheed Colony, Natipora, driver in a private school, and Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, resident of Haja Mohalla, Natipora.
FIR 89/2014 under section 7/25 I.A act has been registered in this regard at Police Station Nowgam, Srinagar. Investigation into the case has been started while police said that more arrests are likely to be made in this case.
