LAHDC urges PM to confer Bharat Ratna to Dalai Lama

LEH: A resolution to confer Bharat Ratna to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was moved by Jamyang Tsering Namgyal BJP Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh which was unanimously passed by all the councilors of LAHDC Leh in the Annual General Council Meeting held here on 21st and 22nd December 2016.
The resolution reads, “Needless to mention, the 14th Dalai Lama has inspired millions of followers across the world to shun violence and practice compassion, tolerance, and understanding of humanity. By preaching peace across the globe, His Holiness was conferred with the Noble Peace Prize in 1989. He has contributed in strengthening the ancient Indian values specially Nalanda tradition in the world”.
Moving the resolution in the House of BJP Councillor Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said, “We and countless others, the silent majority, especially the people of Ladakh fully endorse this demand”. The House of LAHDC Leh urged the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna to the Dalai Lama in recognition of the greatest apostle of peace in modern time.
The resolution was submitted in support to the demand made by Shanta Kumar, BJP MP to Narendra Modi.
