Ladakhi students seek parallel exam centre at Jammu

JAMMU: All Ladakh Student Association staged protest against the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Develop-ment Council (LAHDC), Leh for its callous attitude towards the helpless students. The agitating students from Ladakh, studying in Jammu and different parts of country sought parallel exam centre at Jammu for the forthcoming examination for General Line Teacher/ VLW/MPW on 29th October expressing that due to the prevailing situation in Kashmir it is not safe for the students to travel through Kashmir in such circumstances, the Manali Leh Road is also officially closed for traffic and air fare is also too high for the students, which they can’t afford.
“At the same time, there mid-term exams are going on in various colleges, semester exams in different universities and various other competitive exams. Due to which deserving candidates can’t appear in the said exam at Leh Centre.
For the last few days, the students of Ladakh studying outside Leh are approaching the administration demanding parallel centre at Jammu,” they said.
They warned that they will continue protest till the authorities at Leh consider their request of a parallel centre at Jammu or postponement of the said exam.
