JAMMU: Ladakhi students on Tuesday staged protest against the molestation of Ladakhi student by HoD of Forensic Medicine of Government Medical College Jammu, Dr. Bhupesh Khajuria last week and demanded severe punishment for the accused.
Hundreds of Ladakhi students assembled in front of Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the government seeking justice for the victim girl.
While condemning the incident, the protesters said “We will not tolerate this bullying tactics of the administration and it’s trying to protect the culprit. It would be disgrace on the part of GMC like premier institution to have an employee who does not have the basic human tenant of respecting the modesty of women.”
“Government should act very strictly in this case so that it becomes an example for others. There should be zero tolerance towards such heinous crimes,” they added.
One of the protesters said “It is neither a case of racial or regional nor religious but it is a matter of harassment of women at work place or an attempt to make advance towards girl student with evil intention to exploit her. Every section of people and every law abiding and responsible citizen of the nation can join hand to speak against.”
The protesters demanded that Dr Bhupesh Khajurua should be expelled from service and his degree should be seized on moral ground.
