NEW DELHI: The students of Ladakh on Wednesday protested against the state government and demanded termination of Head of Department, Forensic Sciences, Government Medical College Dr. Bhupesh Khajuria for his involvement in alleged molestation of a final year MBBS student of the college. The activists of Ladakh Student Welfare Society Delhi, All Kargil Ladakh Student Union Delhi, JNU Ladakh Forum, Democratic Students Union, Democratic Students Forum and Birsa Ambedkhar Phule Student Association organised a protest rally from Khan Market Metro Station to J and K House, Prithviraj Road New Delhi.
The protestors condemned the slow pace of investigation and alleged that the administration is trying to shield him. The heinous crime against the student would not be tolerated, they added.
They also submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti demanding termination of the accused from government job.
They further demanded that fair investigation and trial of the case should be done within a definite period of time. He should be given severe punishment under law so that crime against women can be checked, they added.
The representatives from different student unions questioned the state government’s intent for attaching the accused with the Directorate of Health Services.
