JAMMU: Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust (KVMT) is organising ‘Kunwar Viyogi Utsav’, a week-long literary and cultural event, in the memory of Sahitya Akademi awardee late Dogri poet Group Captain Randhir Singh Jamwal from 9th to 16th September, 2016.
“In collaboration with University of Jammu, the trust will conduct a one-day seminar, titled ‘Kunwar Viyogi- Ek Chatiyaan Di Ladi’, highlighting the works and contribution of Kunwar Viyogi,” member of the trust Poonam Jamwal told reporters here.
During the event, to be held at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium on 9th September, Vice Chancellor Jammu University Prof R.D Sharma and other dignitaries will be present.
The trust will also award an annual scholarship of Rs 10,000 to the topper of the MA Dogri, additionally, a special endowment of Rs 30,000 per annum will be awarded to a research student who undertakes research work on Kunwar Viyogi or in Dogri language and literature- with special focus on compilation, restoration, comparative study and translations and innovative ways of creating reach and popularity of the writer’s thought and works.
Kunwar Viyogi’s award winning book ‘Ghar’ translated in Hindi language by writer and Dogri Sanstha President Chhatrapal will also be unveiled at the event, she said.
A week long KVMT Charity Art Exhibition for the girl child titled ‘Prem Prayas’, showcasing the cultural ethos of the Duggar artists, will also be launched in collaboration with Lotsava Rinchen Bzangpo Art Gallery at Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University on 9th September.
It will conclude on Kunwar Viyogi’s first Death Anniversary on 16th September. Renowned artist Suman Gupta will inaugurate the event with Vice Chancellor Jammu University and special guests.
