KVK Reasi imparts training to farm women

REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized one day training programme on “Self Help Groups (SHGs) for Women Empowerment” at Malad village of Pouni block in Reasi district by following all the SOPs of COVID-19 pandemic. The programme was attended by the number of farm women of the village. The objective of the programme was to make a better understanding the features and functioning of Self Help Groups (SHGs) for the sustainable livelihood of farm women of hilly areas.
The programme was organised under the able guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr.SK Gupta. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi initiated the programme with the warm welcome of participants. He guided the participants on proper record keeping, internal lending, repayment ethics and financial services. Besides it the participants were guided on the income generation activities. He guided farm women on aonla candy making, juice making, pickles making, jam making, sauce making etc. and motivated them to produce their value added products of commercial level so that they can enhance their income.
Jugal Sharma, Chairman, We Care Society stressed on the attractive packing, labeling and branding of the products for the better returns. Pickles containers were also provided by KVK, Reasi to the farm women during the training programme. The participants showed keen interest in the programme and asked certain quarries which were answered satisfactorily by the officials. Smt.Bimla Devi, an awardee farm woman also shared her experiences on value addition in fruits and vegetables with the participants and showcased her value added products. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi with the formal vote of thanks.
