RAJOURI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu started establishment of Model Orchard at its Tandwal farm. Dr R K Arora, Associate Director Extension and Incharge KVK’s SKUAST-Jammu inaugurated the establishment of model orchard by planting guava plant in the orchard.
Dr. Arora informed that the model orchard is being established at KVK Rajouri with the aim of providing technical knowhow of scientific cultivation of fruit plants.
Dr Arvind Kumar Ishar, Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Rajouri briefed that 50 citrus plants and 50 guava plants are being planted in the first phase of plantation. In the second phase, kiwi, Pecannut, peach and nectarise shall be planted in this orchard. The improved varieties of guava ( Hisar Surkha, Hisar Safeda and VNR-Bihi ) have been brought from HAU, Hisar whereas 50 citrus plants have been procured from Centre for Excellence in Citrus, Indo-Israel Project at Hoshiarpur. All these cultivars are the best performing cultivars.
