JAMMU: An organisation of Kashmiri Pandits on Wednesday said it was “shocked” over the Narendra Modi government’s response to Pakistan which had objected to settlement of KPs in the Valley.
“Panun Kashmir is shocked over the apologetic response of the Government of India to Pakistan’s objection and disapproval of the return of internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus,” Chairman, Panun Kashmir, Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here.
“No return of Hindus of Kashmir is possible to the Kashmir Valley unless a centrally-administered Union Territory is carved out of the north and east of river Jhelum in the Kashmir Valley for rehabilitating them,” Chrungoo said.
Pakistan had recently said any creation of “dedicated” townships in the Kashmir Valley for displaced Kashmiri Pandits would change the demography of the State and be in violation of UN resolutions, a stand rejected outright by India.
