JAMMU: The birthday of India’s ace cricketer Yuvraj Singh was celebrated at KC Sports Club on Friday with quite a few young members of the Club who are training regularly at its Indoor Cricket facility under the aegis of the Yuvraj Centre of Excellence present on the occasion. A cake was cut on the occasion with tremendous jubilation and fanfare.
The Club is the first of its own kind not only in Jammu but also in the country. The indoor complex is spread over three double height storey covering an area of approximately 60,000 square feet and offering a wide range of world class sporting and fitness facilities within its air controlled environs. The facilities include a vast and well equipped gymnasium, two spacious halls for Table Tennis, Martial Arts and Creative Dancing under the tutelage of Shiamak Davar School of Dancing and an expansive 16,000 square feet Indoor Cricket Hall covering the entire first floor of the complex. The Cricket Hall is also fitted with ideal lighting to facilitate playing of night time indoor Cricket matches. A multi games hall on the 2nd floor and an indoor all-weather swimming pool on the ground floor are expected to be completed shortly.
The Cricket Hall has turned into a busy and vibrant venue for coaching in the game under trained personnel from Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence and for individual practice by beginners as well as professional Cricket players. Some members of the J and K Ranji Cricket team, namely, Ram Dayal, Shubam Khajuria, Vandeep Singh and its Captain Parvez Rasool have been putting in intensive practice at the Club from time to time and Vivek Singh, the Assistant Coach of the J and K Ranji team, is also training young Cricket aspirants at the Club. The J and K Ranji Team did the Club proud by defeating Mumbai Ranji Team in their own backyard recently. The management of the Club congratulated the J and K Ranji Team for their historic win over Mumbai and hoped that its members would continue to take full benefit of the indoor practice facility available at the Club.
