Kavinder highlights importance of sustainable development for creating a better & equitable world

MUMBAI: Kavinder Gupta, a senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, stated that sustainable development advocates for a comprehensive and interconnected strategy for economic, social, and environmental growth that addresses present needs while safeguarding the ability of future generations to meet their own.
The senior BJP leader was speaking on the second day of three days National Legislators’ Conference being held in Mumbai.
Kavinder, who was the Chairman of the Session today, was addressing the legislators and others on the topic Instruments & Impact of Sustainable Development.
Kavinder said sustainable development necessitates the cooperation and involvement of multiple interest groups such as governments, non-governmental organizations, corporations, and individuals at all echelons to establish a more sustainable tomorrow. The LAD Fund for MLAs is a valuable tool for fostering sustainable development at the local level, benefiting communities directly affected by the initiatives undertaken. However, it is critical that these projects align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure their contribution to the worldwide pursuit of sustainable development, he added. The former Deputy Chief Minister said it’s the responsibility of all policymakers, including Legislators to work towards achieving the SDGs and creating a better future for all.
Later, Dr Khader Vali, renowned and independent scientist and Prof Lawrence Pratchett Faculty of Business, Govt & Law, University of Canberra, Austria, also spoke on the occasion.
Dr Khader Vali, who is also known as Millet Man of India, has stressed on using millets as staple food, which traditionally was the main entity of main course of Indian society but with the passage of time, and in race to copy west, have gone extinct from the diet chart. He asked one and all to once again bring back organic food and the millets in meals to have a healthy and nutritious food. He asked the stakeholders to make use of science sensibly and ensure that resources remain available for the coming generations by using them judiciously in line with the earlier generations which saved the same for the progeny. He also highlighted the importance of switching over to millets claiming that the same will help boost economy.
Rajinder Singh, Waterman of India and Padam Shri Kartik Sarabhai environmentalist also raised many significant points with regard to sustainable development.
Later, Chairman NLC along with dignitaries honoured Kavinder Gupta for chairing the session on Instruments & Impact of Sustainable Development.
