JAMMU: Speaker, Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta emphasized on rural development for improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people living in rural areas. He said rural development holds the key for the growth of state’s economy and stressed on infrastructural growth for the overall development of these areas.
Speaking during inauguration of newly constructed Link Road at Khwas Khan village, Speaker stressed on regular quality checks of the roads at both pre and post construction stages to ensure adherence to quality standards. He said that construction of roads should be seen in the larger context of socio-economic impact that it brings on the rural economy.
He said the government is making all the efforts for rural development with regard to power, irrigation, roads, drinking water, housing, employment and road connectivity.
Kavinder said that government is keen to provide livelihood opportunities to those in need including women and other vulnerable sections with special focus on Below Poverty Line (BPL) households.
On being apprised of the problems and developmental needs of the area, the Speaker assured locals that all their genuine concerns will be looked into on priority and directed the concerned officials to take adequate measures to mitigate the problems of the people in a time bound manner.
