Kavi Sammelan, awareness programme under SVEEP held at Kathua

KATHUA: A Kavi Sammelan was organised at Rajiv Gandhi College of Education Kathua on Tuesday in continuation of the series of programmes undertaken in the district under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation .
District Election Officer, Kathua Dr. Shahid Iqbal was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Dr. Bharat Bhushan CEO Tourism (Nodal Officer SVEEP) and Returning officer Hiranagar Assembly Segment Suraj Prakash Rakwal were the guests of honour on the occasion .
The Assistant Commissioner Development Tilak Raj, Chief education officer T. R. Mangotra ,Distt. Information Officer Indu Jamwal, Executive Engineer LSDA Kamal Kishore ,District Youth Coordinator NYK Som Dutt Zard ,District Informatics officer Siddheshwar Bhagat, Assistant Director Planning B. R Sharma ,BDO Headquarter, BDOs of Kathua, Barnoti and Keerian Gandyal blocks ,officers of line departments , Principal Rajiv Gandhi College Of Education Renu Dogra , prominent citizens and a large number of students were present on the occasion .
District election song was sung by noted Dogri singers Jatinder Khajuria and Bunty Mangotra which was liked by all those present on the occasion. Thereafter, poets recited their poems on electoral participation theme. The prominent poets who recited their poems included S. Manohar Singh, Dr. Paramjit Singh, Khajoor Singh, Tilak Raj Sumbria ,Karan Singh , Som Akela ,Dr. Gurprasad , Santosh Deewan, Renu Padha , Kumari Saroj Bala, Madan Lal Toofan and Vijay Sharma.The poets in their poems threw light on the importance of voter participation in the election process.
Meanwhile, District Administration Rajouri organised a mega event at Dak Bunglow Rajouri in which voters were informed about the importance of their vote in the democratic set up.
The Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Inspector General of Police Rajesh Kumar was the guest of honour.
The programme was organised under the supervision of District Election Officer Jitendra Kumar Singh (Deputy Commissioner).
On the occasion cultural programme, dramas Nukkaad Natak were presented by the various cultural club including Panjal cultural club Rajouri, Janjagran club kalakote, and special team from Reasi, students of various institutions also participated in this mega awareness Programme and presented their views on the topic of ” why to cast vote”
The function was attended by DIG police Rajouri poonch Range Mr. Ashok Attri, SSP Rajouri Dr. Hasib Mughal, ADDC VeerJi Hangloo, Nodal officer SVEEP ( Additional Deputy Commissioner) Rajouri, Mr. Saleem Malik, and other senior officers of civil and police administration.
