KATHUA: District Administration Kathua has dispatched more relief material to flood affected areas of Kashmir Valley, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi Districts.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prasanna Ramaswami and Assistant Commissioner, Anshul Garg are camping at Amritsar for dispatching the relief material to the State.
On Saturday around 65,000 food packets were airlifted to Srinagar with the cooperation of District Administration Amritsar headed by Ravi Bhagat and the Gurudwara Committee.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua also held meetings at Pathankote and Amritsar for coordinating dispatch of relief material being collected from various districts.
Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Department, B.R Sharma has coordinated with Punjab Government and Food Corporation of India for various relief items to be provided for the State through Kathua administration.
FCI is providing 60,000 metric tonnes of rice for flood affected areas of State and in this regard the DC and ADC Kathua held meetings with FCI and Indian Air Force authorities at Amritsar for immediate transportation of ration tomorrow.
Meanwhile 1,500 blankets have been dispatched for various flood affected areas provided by individuals, industrial houses, NGOs and social organisations.
As many as 1,000 blankets provided by Bari Brahmna Industrial Association have been dispatched for Pouni and Budhal. Chenab Textile Mill Kathua has also extended assistance and provided blankets for flood affected families through DC Kathua.
Tehsildar Kathua Jatinder Mishra also distributed ration among 380 stranded truck drivers along national highway on the directions of DC Kathua.
A medical camp was also held for check up of stranded passengers and families along highway.
