Kashmir University beaten in quarterfinals; Jammu varsity enters semis of VC Cup

JAMMU: University of Jammu (JU) on Friday qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing All India Vice Chancellor’s Cup Twenty20 Tournament at Mumbai University in Maharashtra.
Now, in the semifinals, JU shall take on Punjabi University Patiala on Saturday. Punjabi University reached the last four stages of the competition outplaying University of Kashmir (KU) in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Earlier, JU trounced Shimla University by a huge margin of 74 runs to reach the last four stages of the tournament. Batting first, after winning the toss, JU set a target of 156 runs for eight wickets. Ameet Targotra made highest 49 runs while Niranjan contributed 35. Noor was other batsman, who touched the double figure mark with 15 runs.
For Shimla University, Lalit took three wickets while Dharam and Cheteshwar shared two each.
In reply, Shimla University was bowled out for 80 runs in 16.3 overs. Lalit and Rajesh were main contributors with 43 and 19 runs respectively. For JU, Rajesh took two wickets for 11 runs while Sandeep emerged as most successful bowler with three for 20. Pawan and Daud as also Raj Kumar shared apiece each.
For his superb batting, Ameet was named Man of the Match.
