Kashmir symbol of sectarian unity: Farooq

BUDGAM: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that Kashmir was an example of sectarian unity and brotherhood and would continue to offer hope and inspiration to the world in the future.

While addressing people at the Chaharum of Begum late Aga Syed Al-Safvi Al-Moosvi, Dr. Farooq Abdullah highlighted the contribution of late Aga Sahib in forging ties of unity and brotherhood between the Shia and Sunni communities in Kashmir.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah also expressed solidarity with senior NC leader Aga Mehmood over the demise of his mother, Begum late Aga Syed Al-Safvi Al-Moosvi and reiterated that the party stood with him in this moment of grief and loss.

“Kashmir is truly a remarkable island of sectarian unity and brotherhood. We have always believed in peace and harmony. This has been recorded in golden letters by numerous historians and Kashmir will continue to be a harbinger of amity. Late Aga Syed Al-Safvi Al-Moosvi was a remarkable personality and had a close association with Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, with whom he shared a mutual vision of sectarian unity and brotherhood. National Conference continues to be the guardian of this spirit of brotherhood”, NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah said.

The Party President prayed for the prosperity of the State and implored people to work hard to safeguard the State’s interests and dignity.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah was accompanied by NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, NC Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior NC leader and MLA Budgam Aga Syed Ruhullah and NC Central Zone President MLC Ali Mohammad Dar besides various senior party leaders and office bearers.
