Kashmir politics, separatist movement; murkier than murky Dal waters

BLUNT BUTCHER

The so-called mainstream outfits of the Valley are behaving as soft secessionists and at times more ferociously than the traditional Pakistani stooges, who have taken refuge under an umbrella called the Hurriyat.

JAMMU: The ruling PDP has expressed anguish over consecutive killings in Sopore and described these as acts of cowardice. A senior party functionary has used all the good words about such repeated acts– being unfortunate and not in consonance with norms of civilized society. He has also stated that such dastardly acts have devastated families and raised the number of widows and orphans not spoken a word as to who has been committing these heinous crimes. However, the party supremo and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayed has ordered a time bound inquiry into these killings.
On the contrary, former Chief Minister and Working President National Conference Omar Abdullah has taken the charge of ‘involving’ Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar into the killings, which has potential of providing shield to terrorists. His outburst comes on Parrikar’s remark that terrorists will be eliminated through terrorists. By such irresponsible statements, as has been unleashed by mainstream and responsible leaders, not only the Indian agencies are getting maligned on the Kashmir turf but the Pakistan sponsored terrorists are also getting license to indulge in mayhem and bloodshed. Inspired by the tweets and inappropriate statements of the former Chief Minister, the separatists have taken a lead and spearheaded a massive campaign against the Indian agencies.

The PDP has been taking much pain in highlighting the number of widows getting increased with each killing. The pain is justified and natural as well. The party should have taken upon itself to spearhead a campaign against those believing in violence as means to achieving political objectives. The party has left a huge space open for suspicion against the Indian agencies’ involvement in the Sopore killings. This is not only irresponsible but inflammatory also. Having said that, don’t the mainstream parties like PDP feel slight pinch of pain when hundreds of soldiers’ wives are rendered widows or their children become orphan. They are falling victims during ambushes and encounters, unleashed by Pakistan sponsored and separatists patronized terrorists or ‘Mujahids’. Why don’t they beat their chests when a soldier falls on the call of his duty and in saving the lives of people in Kashmir? They give their today for the safe enviorns in Kashmir where politicians like the ones belonging to PDP and NC cannot only sleep peacefully but also rule the State. How ironical that the beneficiaries of peace are so timid not to speak a word against the so-called Mujahids.
The Kashmiri secessionists and mainstream leaders did not feel a slight pain when terrorists hounded out a miniscule minority in early nineties by making soft targets in lanes and bylanes of Srinagar. Some Kashmiri Hindus were killed just to test the target positioning of ‘Mujahids’, who heralded on the Valley ladscape, after being trained in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. This served their twin purposes; to create fear psychosis and to free Kashmir from infidels or Kafirs. To provide cover to terrorists’ inhuman acts, both the amalgams of secessionists and soft-secessionists in the mainstream camp remain in competitive race to blame Governor Jagmohan for having engineered migration in order to give free hand to ‘Indian army to commit genocide’. Now, again they are pointing fingers at the Indian agencies to provide a cover to Pakistani lunatics. Shame on such self-proclaimed conscious- keepers, who have brought the innocent people of Kashmir at the brink of collapse!
