RAMBAN: Describing Kargil war was a conflict under special circumstances. BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday said that Pakistan did not launch a direct attack but, like thieves its soldiers stealthily established positions in Kargil.
Addressing a function at Batote in Ramban district to commemorate the Vijay Diwas, Chugh said that 25 years ago the brave Indian Army achieved victory in Kargil, and today we are celebrating the silver jubilee of that victory.
Chugh said that the enemy was positioned on the peaks of Kargil. India’s brave soldiers had to climb the mountains and capture those challenging heights. “Our soldiers did not stop; they fought strategically and once again raised the tricolor on the tough peaks of Kargil”, he added.
He recalled that as a representative of the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the battlefield during the Kargil war to boost the morale of the soldiers. During the wars with China and Pakistan in 1962 and 1971, only the clothes, caps, and identification cards of the martyrs were returned home. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee decided that martyrs would be honored with full respect and their final rites would be conducted in their villages, with the responsibility resting with the government and the army.
Chugh mentioned that when the UPA government’s Defense Minister was asked why roads for soldiers at the border were not being constructed, the answer was that there was no money for such works.
“Earlier, border convoys traveled on single-lane roads, but today our army uses double-lane roads and concrete double-lane bridges to reach the border. Now, the Indian Army can travel from Arunachal Pradesh to Ladakh in a day and a half”, he said.
Chugh that during the Congress government’s tenure, there was also a shortage of combat aircrafts, helicopters, and bulletproof equipment in the Indian Army but today India not only manufactures indigenous defense equipment but also exports it to other countries.
Chugh said that the BJP Youth Front is celebrating Victory Day by lighting ‘Vijay Jyoti’ in every district. The honor given to our brave soldiers sends a message that a country of 1.4 billion people stands with its valiant soldiers.
The function was attended by Neelam Langh, State President SC Front; Rajeshwar Kumar, District President; Puran Chand, District In-Charge; Sham Singh Katoch, Former District President; Ramesh Sharma, Former District President; Rakesh Thakur, DDC Member; Balbir Bali, District General Secretary; Jagdeep Thakur, District General Secretary; Narayan Chand, Mandal President; Jagveer Das, DDC Member; Pawan Khajuria, Sunil Sharma, Ravinder Singh, and others.

‘Vijay Jyoti to touch all corners of J&K’

JAMMU: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday paid a rich tribute to the Army jawans, who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil operation and said that the nation would always remain indebted to them for protecting their motherland.
Addressing a gathering in Ramban district, Chugh said the Kargil operation has completed 25 years but the nefarious designs of Pakistan are still fresh in the minds of the people.
Paying a glorious tribute to the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Chugh said the BJP has always stood to protect the national interest, whereas other parties led by the Abdullahs and Muftis have been compromising the national interest in favour of Pakistan.
He said the Yuva Morcha of the BJP would carry the “Vijay Jyoti” to all parts of Jammu and Kashmir to observe the Vijay Diwas and serve a warning to Pakistan against plotting subversive designs on the Indian soil.
Chugh said under the Modi government adequate infrastructure has been built for the Army and the security forces so that they can take on the inimical forces head-on. He said the Prime Minister, by visiting Kargil, has served a warning to Pakistan and at the same time assured the jawans on the border that the nation stands firmly with them.
