Kala Kendra remains ‘neglected’ by Govt: SRS

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Pointed out the plight of the art and culture loving people within the State and others parts of the country who want to exhibit their art exhibition in Kala Kendra Jammu, State President Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan said “The Kala Kendra, a state-of-art museum in the heart of Jammu remains ‘neglected’ by the government, which is evident from the condition of the building, once established to preserve, conserve and showcase rich cultural heritage of the State.
“You can see the condition of the building. It was meant for showcasing artifacts related to culture of the State, but here one can find only dust which is unfortunate,” he said.
He added that in the recent past the government sanctioned huge funds for its renovation, but there are no signs of development in the building, which is evident from the non availability of transformer for proper electricity, besides air conditions.
“The condition of this center is pathetic. No minister is ready to take responsibility. They only appear to inaugurate exhibition at the Kala Kendra,” he asserted.
He cautioned the State Government particularly BJP leadership that artists and visitors
need comfort and proper electricity and cooling machinery and not just building.
Taking a dig at BJP MLAs, Rajiv Mahajan said it is unfortunate that huge funds were allocated to the renovation of Kala Kendra Jammu but they have failed to install a generator for proper power supply in the building in summer season. He added there is not a single air-conditions install in the building.
Rajiv said an artist coming from outside the State exhibited his art works in the exhibition recently at Kala Kendra also regretted that famous building of Jammu is set up without proper electricity and cooling infrastructure.
“Kala Kendra should have its unique identity and be a centre of excellence in the field of art and culture,” he said and stressed on the government to ensure proper power supply and the required infrastructure to meet the needs of the artists for their exhibition.
