KARGIL: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan on Monday called for the need to adopt a humane approach towards issues of the differently-abled persons in the society. The chairman stated this while addressing a function organised for the differently-abled children at Munshi Habibullah mission school in connection with the world disabled day here.
Kacho said that it is the moral responsibility of every individual in the society to realise and understand their problems and put in our best efforts to encourage and motivate them.
The CEC also visited the Rehabilitation Center for the differently-abled children set up by the NGOs REWA and KASCO sponsored by a foreign donor Hilfe Germany and interacted with the children there.
The functionaries of the Rehabilitation Center while apprising the CEC about its activities informed that the centre specializes in providing all possible treatment facilities to differently-abled children from different parts of the district, they said adding that presently 17 of them are going under treatment.
While describing their success stories the functionaries said that 4 children have been admitted to regular classes after successful treatment, while as 12 successful operations of physical disabilities have been performed by the Centre in collaboration with Health Department, Kargil.
Deputy District Election Officer Nargis Banoo, several officers of the administration, members of KASCO, REWA besides parents of the children were present on the occasion.
