JAMMU: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) under the leadership of its president Sunil Dimple held a protest on Tuesday against the Food and Supply Ministry for supplying wheat in place of flour (Atta) to the people.
Addressing the protesters, Dimple said that government has not supplied Atta to the people of Jammu for the last three months on the ration depots. Dimple alleged that hundreds of genuine ration cards have been cancelled and not issued to the genuine consumers who are permanent residents and were having life- long ration cards and their ration cards has been cancelled and are not being issued by the ration depots. He appealed to the people not to lift wheat from the ration depots.
Dimple has urged upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to stop the implementation of the national food security act (NFSA) as it has put the people of the state are in great trouble. He demanded 10 kg Atta per member of a family as 7 kg per member is not sufficient and all the ration
cardholders BPL, APL families should be given the benefit of the food security bill (FSB).
He further alleged that no kerosene oil is being supplied on the depots for the last three months and the quantity of oil has been reduced from 5 liters to 3 liters per ration card.
Other who joined the protest were Sham Saroop, Harbans Tondan, Vinod Suri, Som Nath Sharma, S Randhier singh Bali, Vijay Khjuria, Ashok Khana, Kulwant Sharma, Raman Gupta, Dev Raj, Bansi Lal, Ram kumar Dass, Vipan Mukesh, Rakesh, Mukesh Kumar, Muna Dogra, Golu Singh and Kala Kumar.
