NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday appointed Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
The communiqué, issued by the Department of Justice, the Ministry of , Law and Justice, states that the appointment of Justice Mir shall be effective from January 5. He was functioning as Acting Chief Justice after the superannuation of Chief Justice M M Kumar.
The communiqué, inter alia, reads, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 100 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, the President is pleased to appoint Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, the senior most Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court to perform the duties of the Office of the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court.”
