JAMMU: Creating new records, the University of Jammu (JU) women volleyball team, for the first time, qualified for the quarterfinals of the North Zone Inter-University Tournament being organised by Kurukshetra University at Kurukshetra Sports Complex.
Now, in the quarterfinal, slated for tomorrow, JU shall be playing against hosts Kurukshetra University.
As per the reports reaching here, JU today trounced BRA, NIT Jalandhar 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-12) in the pre-quarterfinals.
Earlier, in the second round of the competition, JU outplayed UTU Dehradun 3-1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-08, 25-11). Similarly, in the opening tie, JU defeated Amity University Noida 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 25-16).
In all the three matches, Manu Singh Pawar, Priya Choudhary, Shivali Kumari, Shalvi Charak, Priyanka Bogal and Radha Kumari played brilliant as defender and attackers.
Meanwhile, Director of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau complimented the team and conveyed his good wishes for the tomorrow’s quarterfinal.
The JU team is accompanied by JU volleyball coach, Vikas Karlopia and Nisha Atri as Coach and Manager respectively.
