JAMMU: The University of Jammu (JU) is all set to enter in an MoU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), under the aegis of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. This partnership marks a significant step towards enriching educational experiences for students of the JU through an innovative Student Internship Program.
The decision to formalize this collaboration was reached during a meeting between Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, JU, and Sanjeev Kumar Garg, Airport Director of Jammu. Prof. Rahul Gupta, Registrar, JU; Vivek Karata, Assistant General Manager, AAI, Jammu; and Ranjeet Kalra, teaching faculty at Malviya Teacher Training Centre, JU were also present.
Prof. Umesh reiterated the University’s commitment to equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the dynamic field of civil aviation.
He emphasized, “The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of Jammu and the Airports Authority of India aims to provide students with invaluable firsthand exposure to the intricacies of airport operations and the diverse facets of civil aviation.” As part of this initiative, students will have the opportunity to participate in live demonstrations of airport projects and activities, as well as engage in two to five days of familiarization visits and workshops. Furthermore, they will be eligible for internships lasting four to twenty weeks at airports and regional corporate offices.
The primary aim of this collaboration is to ignite passion in civil aviation among students by supplementing theoretical knowledge with practical operational experience, providing exposure to both STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and non-STEM domains within civil aviation. Additionally, this MOU will offer students opportunities to work on short-duration projects related to civil aviation.
