JAMMU: A contingent of ten National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers along with Programme Officer, Prof Swarna Devi Bhougal of the University of Jammu on Tuesday returned after successfully attending ten days adventure camp at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and allied sports Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The camp was sponsored by Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, National Service Scheme. The team included Jasvir Singh, Beer Singh, Bhawani Gogna, Himani Choudhary, Daljeet Singh, Sahil Singh, Seema Khajuria, Resham, Ritesh Singh and Deepika Jaral.
The contingent of the volunteers was received by Dr. Vishav Raksha, Programme Coordinator, NSS, University of Jammu who appreciated their zeal and congratulated them for representing the university at the national level camp.
These NSS volunteers were selected from different colleges of University of Jammu who were trained in adventure sports, adventure trek and also in rescue operations.
These volunteers were exposed to the culture of Himachal Pradesh. They also participated in different competitions like Rope nodding, Debate competition, cross country and excelled in all the competition. The volunteers were also exposed to new adventure opportunities. They thanked the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. R D Sharma and Chairman NSS Campus Prof Jasbir Singh, for encouraging such activities related to youth.
