JU starts yoga training for female staff

JAMMU: University of Jammu (JU) in collaboration with Yoga Centre on Tuesday started week-long exclusive yoga training programme for female staff of the institution on the campus here.
An initiative in this regard has been taken by the Centre for Women Studies, JU. The training programme shall culminate on 21st June i.e. the International Day of Yoga, a handout issued here today informed.
Speaking at the inauguration of the training programme, Director Yoga Centre, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau spelled out the benefits of the yoga in the nature of physical health, mental health and purity of the heart.
Director, Centre for Women Studies, JU, Prof Suman Jamwal welcomed all the participants and apprised them about the benefits of yoga in day to day life.
Dr. Saranjeet Kour conducted the proceedings and Dr. Priyanka Katoch presented the vote of thanks.
Besides exclusive female programme, the training is also being attended by around 50 male staff members of the institution at 12:30 PM. Earlier, the yoga training was presented by Sanjeev Sharma and students of the Yoga Centre.
Among others present were Prof. Neeru Sharma, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Dr Brij Baloria, Romesh Sharma and PD Singh.
From tomorrow onwards the class for female staff shall take place at 11:00 AM, followed by the training of male members from 12:30 PM onwards, the handout added.
