JAMMU: Irked over the adamant attitude of university authorities, Jammu University’s Non-Gazetted Employees Union on Thursday decided to go on hunger strike from 25th July 2016.
Refuting the charge leveled by Jammu University authorities, President JU NGEU Vijay Kumar clarified that till date the token strike by the Non-Gazetted employees was not hampering the work. However, he threatened that with the start of hunger strike the union members will go on complete strike.
Vijay reiterated the demands including removal of 2750 Grade, reinstatement of seven employees of the Human Genetics Department, creation of class IV employees and release of Helpers salary at par with Kashmir University.
Later, Vijay Kumar led a rally of Non-Gazetted employees. He said that rather than confronting with employees the authorities should redress their genuine demands. He also urged the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor to kindly intervene and sought out the issue amicably.
